In short: Acapella Grid has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect, receive or store any personal data. Your recordings stay on your device and leave it only when you choose to share them.
This policy explains how the Acapella Grid app handles information. It applies to:
- the Android app on Google Play (package
app.acapella.app), and - the iOS app on the App Store (bundle ID
app.acapella.ios).
“We” and “us” mean the developer of Acapella Grid. “Data deletion” and “Support” pages on this site are part of this policy.
1. What we collect
Nothing. The app does not require an account or sign-in, shows no ads, and contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking software. The app has no code that sends your recordings, settings or any other information to us or to any server we run. We do not sell or rent data, because we do not have any.
On the App Store this is shown as “Data Not Collected”.
2. Camera, microphone and photos
The app asks for these permissions only when a feature needs them:
- Camera: to film you for each frame of the split-screen video.
- Microphone: to record your voice for each part of the song.
- Photos (iOS, add-only): to save your finished video to your photo library. With this permission the app can add videos but cannot see or read your library.
On Android, finished videos are saved to your gallery through the system media store, which needs no storage permission on Android 10 and later. Camera and microphone are used only while you record; what they capture is saved on your device and is never uploaded by the app. You can withdraw any permission at any time in your device settings.
3. What is stored on your device
The following stays inside the app’s private storage on your phone:
- your projects and their video and audio takes;
- temporary files the app creates for playback and export;
- your settings, such as theme, language, headphone latency calibration and, on Android, an optional name you may enter in Settings to personalise the home screen;
- a simple count of successful exports, used only to decide when to show the rating prompt.
None of this is sent to us. Deleting a project removes its recordings; uninstalling the app removes all of this data.
4. Exported videos
When you export, the finished video (or audio-only mix) is saved outside the app so you can keep it:
- Android: in your gallery, in the
Movies/Acapellafolder (audio-only exports inMusic/Acapella). - iOS: in the Photos app.
Once saved there, the file is managed by your device like any other video. If you use a photo backup service (for example Google Photos or iCloud Photos), that service may back it up under its own terms. Exported videos stay in your gallery even if you uninstall the app, until you delete them.
5. Sharing to other apps
A video leaves your device only when you tap a share button. Depending on your device and the apps you have installed, you can send it to Instagram (Reels, Stories), Facebook Reels, TikTok, WhatsApp or YouTube Shorts, or to any app through the system share sheet. The app hands the file to the app you pick on your device; we receive nothing. From then on, the privacy policy of the service you shared to applies.
For Instagram and Facebook sharing, the app may include an identifier of the Acapella Grid app itself (a Meta App ID). It identifies our app, not you. No Meta software is built into the app.
6. Services provided by Google and Apple
- Android: the app uses Google Play’s In-App Updates (to tell you when a new version is available) and In-App Review (to show Google Play’s rating dialog, at most occasionally, after a successful export). These are features of Google Play on your device; the communication with Google is handled by Google Play and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive personal data through them.
- iOS: the rating prompt is shown by iOS itself (StoreKit), and Apple handles any rating you give.
- If you have agreed to share usage and diagnostics data with Google or Apple in your device settings, they may give developers anonymous, aggregated crash and performance statistics. This is controlled by Google and Apple and by your device settings, not by the app.
7. Device backups
Your phone’s own backup (Android backup to your Google account, or an iCloud / computer backup on iOS) may include app data such as projects and settings if you have backups turned on. These backups belong to your Google or Apple account and are controlled by you and the platform; we cannot access them.
8. Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Because the camera and microphone record people, we recommend that a parent or guardian supervise younger children, especially before a video is shared to another app.
9. Data deletion
We hold no data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to delete and no request is needed. Everything lives on your device and you control it:
- Delete a project: on the home screen, open the project’s menu (⋮ on Android) or swipe left / long-press it (iOS) and choose Delete. The project and all of its recordings are permanently removed.
- Delete exported videos: remove them in your gallery (Android,
Movies/AcapellaorMusic/Acapella) or in the Photos app (iOS). - Delete everything: uninstall the app. This removes all projects, recordings and settings. Exported videos in your gallery or Photos stay until you delete them.
- Shared videos: anything you shared to another app is held by that service; delete it there.
More detail: Data deletion instructions.
10. Your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK give you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Since we hold none, there is nothing to access or delete, but you are welcome to contact us with any question.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app changes the way it handles information (for example, if a feature ever needs to send data), we will update this page and its effective date before that version is released. Material changes will also be described in the app’s release notes.
